THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Mr. Ed Ahart, current President of the College’s Board of Trustees, generously joined the Administrative Staff meeting and spoke to us about the Board’s structure and purpose, as originally outlined in the College’s founding documents and as reflected in its practices today in coordination with the administration. He highlighted the issues on which the Board is currently focused including: ensuring we have talented and effective employees, the growth of the endowment, and expected future revenue growth trends, among others. His knowledge, energy and support of the College are inspirational.
CONTINUITY PLANNING
Following Mr. Ahart’s presentation, Annette Diorio and Kari Fazio of the Finance and Administration Division spoke to the group about Continuity Planning and its importance within each of our departments. They explained the differences among (1) continuity planning, (2) crisis management and (3) disaster recovery. A brief overview of the College’s crisis management protocol was provided as well as the precautions within our ITS and energy infrastructures to try and prevent interruptions in system access. Then the suggested steps to develop an effective departmental continuity plan were reviewed. Finally, the session concluded with three scenarios presented. Small groups at each table shared ideas of what they might do now to mitigate the effects of these potential future disruptions to the normal College activity. A copy of the presentation materials that supplemented that discussion are provided here.
