As part of the 2025-26 Admin Council summer retreat, the Council performed a SWOT Analysis to review strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
As of winter 2026, outcomes as a result of this exercise include:
- Recognition of positive momentum for Admin Council:
- Admin Council has established a strong foundation of collaboration, engagement, and campus presence that supports ongoing progress, and it has elevated the profile of Admin Council’s scope.
- Admin Council has successfully partnered with the President’s Office – a critical piece of being an advisory council.
- Admin Council has taken on a greater responsibility in contributing to the admin/staff community breakfasts.
- A refined approach to Admin Council’s internal committees that has provided clarity in roles and responsibilities.
- A concerted effort from council members to continue to promote the Admin Council’s role to their individual divisions or areas.
- Expansion of the the council’s executive committee to include:
- A Treasurer to allow the council to be more fiscally aware.
- A Secretary to allow more formalized meeting minutes to be recorded and publicized (with the new addition of an Admin Council Spaces site).
- Efforts to continue to work towards strengthening community engagement.
- The establishment of a strong, collaborative relationship with new HR leadership.
- Continued review of a movement towards establishing an inclusive system of shared governance.
- Acknowledgement of challenges that Admin Council must face such as:
- Making Lafayette College a safe space for all employees to speak up without fear of retaliation. This includes fostering a culture that promotes safety in constructive dialogue.
- Closing the divide between staff / administrators and faculty (whether perceived or real), and creating a collaborative environment in which we all work towards improving Lafayette College.
- Remaining vigilant in our support of the Lafayette College community through the obstacles that are facing higher education nationwide.
